Life In Good Measure

It is about people, history and your own place on the map

Vikings

If you have yet to see the multinational drama television series Vikings, created and written by Michael Hirst for the History channel, I recommend that you do! Filmed in Ireland, it premiered in Canada in 2013. The sixth and the last season came out in December 2019. There is also a sequel series titled Vikings: Valhalla. Vikings is a violent series, depicting times when there were no firearms yet, but only anything sharp to maim or kill your enemy with - mostly kill. Continue reading

Frasier

One of the most popular American sitcoms must be Frasier, the spin-off of Cheers. It premiered in the United States in September 1993. The cast of Frasier was not big, but all the more talented when it comes to producing quick-witted, brilliant comedy. Critically acclaimed, the show itself and the cast won 37 Primetime Emmy Awards. Frasier continued the story of psychiatrist Frasier Crane (from Cheers), returning to his hometown of Seattle where he started building a new life as a radio advice show host while reconnecting with his father Martin and brother Niles, and making new friends. Continue reading

You Never Know

You never know when it is time for someone to go. Any time you meet a person it might be the last time you see him or her. This we know, logically. But we don’t know when it is time. Or sometimes we do. Like my grandma seemed to know as she was bidding me farewell me leaving for home after visiting her in another country. She was pretty old Continue reading

Reflecting Safety

One thing about living up in the northern latitudes is that you know for sure that it will eventually get dark pretty early in the day. And to be on the safe side in traffic, it is a good idea to have a safety reflector attached somewhere on your clothes, backpack or bag. It is in fact mandatory to wear one in countries like Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. We are all used to seeing reflective clothing worn professionally. Continue reading

Words Unsaid

The words we didn’t say. How they haunt us sometimes. Maybe more than the words we did say. Even if those too might haunt us. At some point of your life you may realize that - despite all the inherent intentions of verbalizing your thoughts, encouraging your loved ones to spread their wings and soar high, expressing your love towards them, being a dear aunt or uncle, showing how much you actually care - you actually haven’t done much any of that. Continue reading

Australia Divided

Previously in Journeys of Life we have had articles about the different states or provinces of the United States of America and Canada. This time we do the same with Australia. This in order to help you to figure out the abbreviations given concerning people born in Australia. Australia has six states, two major mainland territories and a few external territories, mainly islands. Here below the abbreviations for the six states. Continue reading

Ashely Basbas - Nov 5, 2020Can I recently say thats a relief to locate someone who in fact knows what theyre preaching about on-line. I cant believe youre no more well-known simply because you definitely possess the gift. Your style is so unique compared to other folks I have read stuff from. Continue reading

N O W

Now, let’s have a few words about that ever important word - now. So very important - and so hated by Procrastinators Ltd. It doesn’t take much energy to utter it, but oh boy what it entails! The energy you need to exude to make things happen! The courage to let go and let them happen! We say It’s now or never. Or like Golda Meir asked: If not now, when? Continue reading

Fear The Walking Dead

Fans of the horror genre welcomed the post-apocalyptic AMC series Fear The Walking Dead back in 2015, the spin-off series of The Walking Dead. The series depicts the period slightly prior to when all started going wrong, upto the times when everything most anywhere was wrong. So if you like The Walking Dead, you’ll most probably like Fear the Walking Dead as well. With different characters, but with more or less the same predicaments. Continue reading

The Walking Dead

AMC’s hugely popular series The Walking Dead is now into its 9th season, and doesn’t really show any signs of fading interest among its viewers. Popular around the globe, it certainly deserves its own article here in Journeys of Life. Not for the faint-hearted as we all know. The graphic and often downright dismal nature of the series is not for everyone. Nevertheless, we present here the main cast for all the seasons - chronological à la Journeys of Life - along with some trailers. Continue reading

Ufology

Whether you believe it or not, there is ample evidence that the Earth has been visited by extraterrestrials for ages. Of course, many of us have also witnessed that, but since the mainstream media doesn’t yet deal widely with the subject, it is not “public knowledge”, but rather something that many people find something to ridicule. Yet there are hundreds of serious researchers who study these phenomena. You will see here below a list of them as well as others who can be associated with this field. Continue reading

The film premiered in 1986, and kind of gave that song to a whole new generation of music lovers! The movie is a coming of age story for four teenage boys, played by Wil Wheaton (as Gordie), River Phoenix (Chris), Jerry O’Connell (Vern) and Corey Feldman (Teddy). Continue reading
