If you have yet to see the multinational drama television series Vikings, created and written by Michael Hirst for the History channel, I recommend that you do! Filmed in Ireland, it premiered in Canada in 2013. The sixth and the last season came out in December 2019. There is also a sequel series titled Vikings: Valhalla.
Vikings is a violent series, depicting times when there were no firearms yet, but only anything sharp to maim or kill your enemy with - mostly kill. But there are good, easily identifiable stories, fantastic drama, rich staging and powerful personalities that sometimes supersede the intermittent violence.
Here below follows the main cast. First in chronological order, then below that one another list arranged by nationality to show you how international this show really is. Acted by people with very different backgrounds and linguistic skills. The main language spoken in the series is English, but you hear a lot of what sounds like old Norse, Franc and Anglo-Saxon dialects and some Latin, Greek, Arab and Finnish as well. For all you fans of linguistics and history, this series is a treasure to behold!
