Now, let’s have a few words about that ever important word - now. So very important - and so hated by Procrastinators Ltd. It doesn’t take much energy to utter it, but oh boy what it entails! The energy you need to exude to make things happen! The courage to let go and let them happen!
We say It’s now or never. Or like Golda Meir asked: If not now, when? You can postpone things, but things that really need to get done, there is no better time than right now, right?
I myself am a procrastinator. I also play with words. And this very short one gets a whole new meaning seen from the Finnish or “Finglish” perspective. N O W becomes En oo double u. More about that later, but it makes you kind of wonder where that u comes from if w consists of two v’s. There’s an excellent article about that in dictionary.com.
Anyways, this Finnish-English composition en oo double u means roughly translated I’m not double you. And becomes in my mind a power confirmation in The Battle of the Bulge that “I’m not double me”, but could and should instead become half of that, a single me. A V - like victory! And the initial negation becomes positive. You follow me?
So the time is now.
Sometimes talking with someone leaves you with the impression that they are not really there, not really listening but busy thinking about what they themselves want to say next. That has a kind of dispersing, depleting effect on the conversation. But when you are in it, really listening, really taking in what the other person is saying, and what your appropriate, genuine response might be, you are in effect in the here and now, present, and very much alive to your counterpart.
You do know that Nowhere can be dispersed and reorganized to form _Now here? _That idea has been deftly used in some music videos. If you’re not here, present in the present, you are ultimately nowhere. Being now here gives you all you need to present all you are. And give yourself - and others - the best present. Carpe Diem!
