As of today, Journeys of Life contains year files for three whole centuries. That is, the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. Those plus some of this 21st century we now live in span the years 1700 and 2019. The year files aim to give you a quick look at any of these years with some background information and the most notable persons born at that time.
We now go on completing year files for individual years for the 14th, 15th, 16th and 17th centuries, and aim to gradually publish all years between 1500 and 1699. The years before that will be random and subject to the interest of you readers.
This also means that we will revert to publishing more of the article series here in Journeys of Life, i.e. Did You Know That, Monthly Latin, One Day in the Life of and Who Said That! with the fixed publication days for each of them. Hope you enjoy them!
And when it comes to year files, do remember please that the phrase “and all these fine people were born” indicates not the manner in which we end up showing our character throughout life, but the fact that at birth we are each given an opportunity to start afresh as decent human beings ready to leave their mark on the world we share. What kind of mark we leave depends on so many things, and naturally many of the people in the lists are unknown to many of you, but we do intend to gather here as many interesting people as possible.
The year files form the bulk of the site that invite genealogists to take part in it, but are by no means the only feature of Journeys of Life. Any of the articles included here is intended to give a glimpse of a person’s or people’s journey thru life in the myriad of ways we do live it. At times beautiful, at times ugly. Rich and poor. Colorful and bleak. But we all walk or run thru it, and this site honors all these diverse walks of life. We can’t all reach the mountain top, but we can all try to enjoy the view from our own unique spot.
