Who Said That! #28

After a long while, let us have another piece in the article series Who Said That! We present a quotation, a few ideas around it, and finally the person behind it.

There are so many good quotes by people throughout history that reflect the complexities of life that do not change a whole lot, no matter which era you live in.

So, who said:

“Life is the farce that everyone has to perform."

Doesn’t it feel like that sometimes?! A farce. Or any of the other genres that we apply to theater production or a movie? Comedy. Drama. Musical. Action. Suspense. Even horror. And we are the writers and co-writers of it all, and its main characters. Even if at times we may feel like living in the edges and not at the center at all. As spectators, watching in. But still there we are, at the dead center of the script. As free to improvise as we think we are.

And the quote is by Arthur Rimbaud, the French poet born in 1854 who produced the bulk of his literary output by the time he turned 20.
