Monthly Latin #4

MLLove Here’s yet another piece in our series Monthly Latin! Our fascination of this old language may very well keep it alive for centuries to come as there is no end to the wise and for ever applicable phrases in Latin. This phrase is known to most of us, and its message loud and clear.

Amor Vincit Omnia

But who said that originally? Do we even know, this being such an omnipresent idea, what with love being - hopefully - present in everybody’s life, no matter when or where you live.

Well, we do know that shortly before the start of the first millennium, the Roman poet Virgil (70 BC - 19 BC) wrote “love conquers all things; let us too surrender to Love.” So there is that Amor (love) Vincit (conquers) Omnia (all) - so true with all obstacles except perhaps the few insurmountable ones.
