Imagine if people kept on growing all their lives! Not just their hair, nails, and waistline - or intelligence. But their height! So that the older you got, the taller you would be. And all the younger folks would automatically have to, physically, look up to all their elders, whether or not they did that mentally.
We would naturally have major problems to deal with as far as health, infrastructure and housing was concerned. And a bunch of other things. Also, older people would require more food than they do today, so that would be a real challenge to the world’s food supply.
So aren’t we lucky that this is not the case! That we stay more or less the same height once we reach adulthood - give or take those few centimeters and inches most of us shrink as we get older. And that the only meaningful things that keep on growing are possibly our levels of knowledge and wisdom.
Nevertheless, we do need to look up to our senior folks, don’t we? For their life experience, and all that. And it all starts within the family. With a healthy respect towards all its members. And the smaller you get, the more there might be that meets the eye. All you need to do is ask.
