Let’s have some fun - and points to ponder! Let’s explore the self from within on a “governmental platform”. Let’s assume that we are all governments onto ourselves - as we indeed are - and see what sort of roles we could be building within ourselves in order to make the most of our lives here on earth.
So, let’s say that we have built-in ministers or agents for each purpose and opportunity in life. That is exactly what we will call them here - ministers! The list below is in alphabetical order, with no preference to any ministry or part of life. Except perhaps the last one.
So let’s start. And while you go through these (and please do come back here for second thoughts), think of the different ways you can see these facets manifesting in your own life.
Minister of Commerce Takes care of all financial affairs and business opportunities throughout life. Finds out the best deals in stores, pushes agendas towards frugality, making-ends-meet -level or prosperity - each according to one’s wishes and/or possibilities.
Minister of Communication Takes care of all sorts of communication. After mastering the mother tongue, pays special attention to speech, language skills, social skills, psychological understanding, computer prowess, telephone skillsĀ etc. Any kind of communication skills. Provides one with the latest or good enough digital devices in order to advance communication.
Minister of Culture Takes care of all cultural pursuits. Sees to it that there are funds reserved in the budget and also time over for visits in museums, concerts, theaters, cinemas etc, knowing that it does good for the soul.
**Minister of DefenseĀ ** Makes sure that there is the ability to defend oneself against possible aggressors, whether by just being fit (ready to flee) or by learning to take the aggressive role. A certain level of physical and mental prowess is always necessary.
Minister of Education Takes care of the educational aspects of life, starting with elementary school. Even as a child, there needs to be the willingness to work towards goals. Then later, higher education, all sorts of courses and educational experiences throughout life.
Minister of Environment Takes care of one’s environmental responsibilities. Recycling, eating and dining out responsibly, commuting, etc. This ministry has a lot to say in so many areas of life. Fundamentally, this minister will be contributing to the well-being of the whole globe. Also by shining, and warming the climate around it.
Minister of Housing Home Sweet Home. Minister of Housing makes sure that there is always roof over one’s head, and preferably to a good price. As place of residence and circumstances of life keep changing, Minister of Housing sees to it that there are always choices available to self.
Minister of Interior Sees to it that your home and house is in order. Even if your home is a small, humble abode, it mustn’t be just a place to store things, but the castle of your soul. A place you make your own, a place to enjoy and relax after a hard day’s work.
Minister of Justice Takes care of the fairness in all its aspects. Respect for both self and others, and own behavior in accordance with the laws of the land. Yet there must always be room for interpretation, and the heart knows the best.
Minister of Labor Handles all things to do with getting and keeping a job, and advancing in the work place. And if unemployment becomes a factor, this minister deals with it too.
Minister of Sports Takes care of one’s fitness level throughout life, whether on amateur or professional level. Makes use of fitness opportunities in behalf and to the advancement of self. Builds sports facilities and facilitates an athletic and/or health-conscious lifestyle.
Minister of Tourism Takes care of the need to travel, whether business or pleasure. Part of the budget is reserved for these purposes, whether the traveling takes place on land, by sea or by air. Works preferably in unison with the Minister of Environment.
Minister of Transport Whether you drive your own car or use public transportation, your Minister of Transportation sees to it that you get from A to B, wherever you are, at the most affordable price. Preferably also environmentally wise.
And last, but certainly not the least:
Prime Minister (self) Holds it all together. Takes care of the business of life, and all promotional opportunities to advance it. Overrides poor decisions, overcomes difficulties, forgives oneself, teaches oneself. Has the wisdom to learn from past mistakes. In the end, the Prime Minister takes the responsibility of everything, and gets the recognition he or she deserves.
Conflicts of interest Well, we are not the same people all our lives. On and off there will be conflicts of interest, and some of those ministries mentioned above will play a minor role, or not figure at all. The balance of life is a continual battle between different forces that determine how our lives shape out. Different things tend to matter depending on all the variables of life. Neither must we be too hard on our younger selves for making bad decisions, or older selves for not having the strength or wherewihtal to cope with life. Nor should we compare our own government with those of others, for their laws and circumstances may differ from ours. We just need to take care of our own business. Just be Government One.
